About

WHO WE ARE

We are an evangelical, historically Anglican congregation in the Reformed tradition, deeply committed to our faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that a personal relationship with God through Christ is at the heart of who we are and that we are dependent on His Spirit and prayer. We believe that the Bible is God’s living and active Word and see it as central to all we do as a church.

The gospel changes our relationship with God from one of hostility and fear to one of intimacy and joy. Therefore at the core of gospel-centered ministry is worship and fervent prayer. In corporate worship God’s people receive life-transforming glimpses of the worth and beauty of God, and then give back to God suitable expressions of his worth.

At the heart of corporate worship is the ministry of the Word. We believe in the vital importance of Biblical preaching.  John Stott has rightly observed:

“Word and worship belong indissolubly to each other. All worship is an intelligent and loving response to the revelation of God, because it is the adoration of his Name. Therefore acceptable worship is impossible without preaching. For preaching is making known the Name of the Lord, and worship is praising the name of the Lord made known. Far from being an alien intrusion into worship, the reading and preaching of the Word are actually indispensable to it. The two cannot be divorced. Indeed, it is their unnatural divorce which accounts for the low level of so much contemporary worship. Our worship is poor because our knowledge of God is poor, and our knowledge of God is poor because our preaching is poor. But when the Word of God is expounded in its fullness, and the congregation begins to glimpse the glory of the living God, they bow down in solemn awe and joyful wonder before his throne. It is preaching which accomplishes this, the proclamation of the Word of God in the power of the Spirit of God. That is why preaching is unique and irreplaceable.”

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe the good news of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection is of first importance, and has the power to transform us, our communities, and the world. We affirm our belief in historic Christianity revealed in the Bible, summarized in the three creeds, as well as the 39 Articles of the Book of Common Prayer with their reminders of the great Reformation principles of ‘Christ Alone, Scripture Alone, Faith Alone.”

OUR MISSION

We see our mission as glorifying God by encouraging all people to pursue a lifelong, joyous relationship with Jesus Christ. Put simply, we exist to love God and love others. As we pursue this mission together, we focus on the following vital signs and core values as guidelines for spiritual growth and ethical living.

VITAL SIGNS

We believe that these four activities are vital for a strong, growing faith:

  • Worship: Adoration of the risen Christ
  • Instruction: A deepening knowledge of God
  • Fellowship: Meaningful relationships with others
  • Expression: Opportunities to compassionately serve others

CORE VALUES

We believe that how we accomplish our purpose is as important as the purpose itself. So, we focus on these core values as essential to ethical ministry:

  • Character in Ourselves: A result of a growing relationship with Jesus Christ… lives characterized by integrity… solid, stable, and secure.
  • Honor to Others: Providing an atmosphere of respect where each person can contribute and thrive.
  • Grace in Our Relationships: Practicing thoughtfulness, kindness, generosity, courtesy, freedom, forgiveness, encouragement, and appreciation of others’ differences as we inspire Christlikeness in those around us.
  • Excellence in Our Pursuits: Reflecting the infinite excellence of the God we serve … producing the highest quality ministry programs, materials, and personal service possible.
  • Glory to Our God: Living by faith… entrusting our talents, finances, and plans to God’s control.• Accountability to One Another: A willingness to answer for one’s life, characterized by vulnerability, teachability, honesty, and availability.

Glorifying God by Encouraging
All People to Pursue a Lifelong,
